Mom as a baby. How cute!

No One Can Take Her Place

Me (Kathryn), Jacqueline, Mom, Alex and David at Grandma and Grandpa Browns.

whose place no one else can take."

A Mother's Love

"A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity, it dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path."

Mom, Before She Was a Mom

Isn't my mom beautiful? This photo was taken long before I ever met her.

The kind of beauty I want most is the hard-to-get kind that comes from within: strength, courage, dignity. -Ruby Dee

Fun at School

2006 Shayna took this photo of the boyz working on their school scrapbook. She has a gift for taking a great pictures.

There is a brilliant child locked inside every student. - Marva Collins

Grandma and Grandpa Brown

Formal photo of Grandma and Grandpa Brown.
What can I say? They were the best grandparents ever! I have been so blessed to have experienced first hand the amazing marriages of both my parents and grandparents. I hope to be blessed with a marriage as happy and as loving as theirs someday.

There is nothing nobler or more admirable than when two people who see eye to eye keep house as man and wife, confounding their enemies and delighting their friends.

Smooching Before the Honeymoon

Isn't she beautiful!
They look so happy. Love is in the air. This photo is of Mom and Dad are smooching in the back seat on their way to their honeymoon. They were so in love, and stayed that way till the day she died. I can only hope and pray that God will bless me with a marriage as happy and loving as theirs.

A good marriage is one which allows for change and growth in the individuals and in the way they express their love.

Toddler Eating Spaghetti

What do you think I'm eating in this photo? My guess would be spaghetti.
The haircut on that kid is looking a little rough, but you hardly notice it with those big brown eyes staring up at you.

Watermelon - it's a good fruit. You eat, you drink, you wash your face.

Falling Toddler

I thing this photo is very interesting. I am actually falling down. Poor me. My dad had taken many other pictures that day. I am glad he chose to print this unique one.

Toddler With Tongue Sticking Out

Here is a photo of me just being me. I love the fabric of this dress. I think it is because my grandmother made the four of us girls bridesmaids dresses, all in different colors, out of that same type of fabric when my mom and dad got married.

Toddler Hammin' It Up

Yep, there I am hamming it up for the camera as usual. I have never shy about getting my photo taken. I suppose that is because I have been one of my dads favorite models since I was born.
I love the fabric on that dress. It has those little raised fuzzy dots all over. So pretty.

I believe that each personality is complete at conception and comes in the soul of every child.

Sleeping Infant

Another photo of me...sleeping peacefully in my little cloth diaper.
Check out the texture on the sofa. I love it!
Yeah, I'm looking pretty cute too.

Pigtails on the Steps

Check out those plaid pants in this photo! I am sitting at the bottom of the stairs in my cute little pigtails.
When I was little I used to think that I could fly down the stairs. I remember several times stepping off the top step and landing firmly against the closet door at the bottom of the stairs. I was very blessed to have never really been hurt.

The Infamous Fuzzy Sucker Christmas With Kathryn and David

One minute you're having fun playing with your toys and enjoying your lollipop, then you take a moment to pose for the camera and the next thing you know your are licking a fuzzy sucker! What a dissapointment. Makes for amazingly cute photos though.

If people did not do silly things, nothing intelligent would ever get done.

Toddler Kathryn Reading a Magazine- Letting My "Geek Flag Fly"

It is true. I have always been a closet geek. This photo captures me in the act of reading before I knew how to read. I am out of the closet now and usually let my "geek flag fly". LOL

Upon the subject of education, not presuming to dictate any plan or system respecting it, I can only say that I view it as the most important subject which we as a people may be engaged in.

David's Photo Strip

David's photo shoot. What a super cutie! He's a ham just like me. LOL

Cupie Doll Baby

What a cutie! Yep that's me...but what was my mother thinking when she gave me a cupie doll style hair-do before getting my picture taken?

I think, at a child's birth, if a mother could ask a fairy godmother to endow it with the most useful gift, that gift would be curiosity.

Classic Beauty and Child

I love this photograph of my mother and me. What a classic beauty...and I'm pretty cute too. LOL

Raggedy Ann Christmas With Kathryn and David

That life sized Raggedy Ann doll was my favorite doll ever! My brother, David, got that crazy little clown. That clown suit was so cute! The Raggedy Ann dolls were the inspiration for the life sized ones that I made for my children when they were younger. I created them with the same hair and eye color and styles as each child.
I don't know why the photo scanned with so much white around the edge. Sorry.

70's Mother and Daughter

I love this photo! My mother looks so
classically 70's with sort of a
hippy-ish feel...and I look adorable
as usual. LOL

A characteristic of the normal child is he doesn't act that way very often.

Kathryn's Photo Strip

An adorable photo shoot with my dad. As usual I start off so sweet and end up a little silly. LOL
Wasn't I a cutie!

Kathryn Swinging

I was a daydreamer even then...

and happy...

and a big, cheesy ham!
I haven't changed much. LOL

This is another photograph that my father took in the early 70's of me swinging on a steel horse in Ballenger Park. You could play tennis during the summer, rent ice skates in the winter and even attend outdoor concerts.
I remember falling off one of those steel horses and needing stitches. (not the day the photo was taken) It was not serious but I was afraid to ride. After a few attempts and a bit of encouragement I recovered and was soon riding as though I had never fallen.

Kathryn and David at Ballenger Park

My father took this photo of my brother and I in the early 70's while we were playing in Ballenger Park which was just down the block from our childhood home.

You are worried about seeing him spend his early years in doing nothing. What! Is it nothing to be happy? Nothing to skip, play, and run around all day long? Never in his life will he be so busy again.
